This site was created by John Rouse to help the Shelbyville Class of 1961 celebrate their 40th reunion. From this humble beginning of twenty five or so pages, the site has grown to over 3,000 pages. It was through the suggestions and encouragement of fellow classmates to expand the site to cover all Shelbyville High School classes. Shelby County Alumni was born! Later, a former SHS alumnus emailed to tell how much she loved the site and stated her husband graduated from Morristown. She asked if the site was going to include the county schools. Why not I responded! After the five current county schools were added, the seven legacy high schools were added.
Webmaster and Administrator - John Rouse
I graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1961. After a four year hitch with the Air Force, I returned home in 1966. A few months later, I moved to Wabash, IN to start a career with Honeywell Int'l. In 1972, I was transferred to Arlington Heights, IL. I was transferred again in 1996. This time to Albuquerque, NM, where my wife and lived until my retirement in 2004. A day later we returned to Northern Illinois to be near parents, children, grandchildren and friends
I began using computers in 1981 with an Apple IIe computer. Slowly I migrated to the PC world and began a database programming career. With this as a background, I began to develop web sites in 2000.
The Class 61 was my first non-Honeywell web site. After 46 years of working for Corporate America, I am looking forward to combining my love of biking and cross country skiing with maintaining the Shelby County Alumni web site.
