Tom Graham, number 10, was a 1961 SHS graduate and an all around athlete during the early sixties.
Tom has first hand knowledge of Shelbyville basketball. His daughter, Rachel Graham Cody, who has a Harvard master’s degree (with an emphasis in African-American studies) provided the writing skills. They joined their combined talent and interest to write the story of the man who led the Shelbyville High School Golden Bears to its only state basketball championship in 1947, Bill Garrett. The story isn't about winning the championship. It is a story about how this young man broke the race barrier in the Big Ten and his accomplishments throughout his short life.
