Marion Twp. Grade School was built in the 1929.  The brick structure had an upper floor containing four large classrooms, with two grades each.  The basement was built partially underground, which allowed natural sunlight.
Besides restrooms, the basement housed a lunchroom and kitchen, boiler room and coal storage.  There was an auditorium with a stage.
A concrete addition was built in 1971 at which time the older 7th and 8th grade students were bussed to either Morristown or Shelbyville.
The school closed in 1982 and students were bussed to Coulston Elementary School.
