So
many of the early settlers came from Kentucky that they named the
county and the town after Isaac Shelby who had been an officer in
the army during the Revolution and who became the first governor of
Kentucky.
This town of approximately 18,000 sits on the banks of the Little
Blue River about 25 miles southeast of Indianapolis off of Interstate
Hwy. 74.
Shelbyville
is the county seat of Shelby County and the home of the Shelbyville
Golden Bears.
